Welios Science Center

A silvery-white metallic cube rises at the edge of Wels city center. Lines of light run across the building sculpture, signaling from afar the main focus of Austria’s first science center: renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Located in the Volksgarten of Wels, the new building connects the city’s very different urban spaces: the historic city center and the exhibition grounds. The modern structure, built to low-energy standards, creates an urban accent and stands as a symbol of the city’s future viability.
