A glass and aluminum shell enclosed in a lightweight wooden cage

An old building was expanded according to a design by Cdm Architetti Associati with the construction of a new, fully glazed structure joined to the existing one by a glass connecting corridor. Not just a restyling project, but an energy efficiency project that reduces consumption and environmental impact. This eco-sustainable project is eligible for the CasaClima B certification, as required by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano directive for buildings of provincial interest. The curtain wall, the internal skin of the new building, is a Wictec 50 solution designed to improve overall thermal performance. The overall average thermal transmittance of the curtain wall is Ucw = 1.1 W/m2K. The thermal transmittance of the profiles (as per ITC-CNR certificate) varies from Uf = 1.1 W/m²K (mullion and transom) to 1.8 W/m²K (with the Wicona Wicline 77 opening system). The thermal transmittance of the double glazing is Ug = 1.0 W/m²K.
