With the WICONA wireless window contact – a wireless sensor for window monitoring – tilted or open windows can be detected in real time, without any visible components or intrusive technology. Integrated into modern smart home systems, the solution can, for example, trigger an alarm as soon as a window is opened. At the same time, the window status can be transmitted to smart radiator thermostats to avoid unnecessary energy consumption during ventilation.

SEAMLESS INTEGRATION INTO BUILDING AUTOMATION

The system is based on a wireless, completely self-powered component integrated into the window hardware and can also be retrofitted at any time into existing windows equipped with WICSTAR fittings. The window contact transmits status information – such as whether the window is closed or open – directly via the EnOcean wireless standard to compatible smart home control units, or can communicate with KNX systems using an additional gateway. No cabling or battery replacement is required.

In combination with the receiver we offer, up to 24 sensors can be connected simultaneously – ideal for use in larger residential or commercial buildings. The system range is up to 40 metres indoors and up to 100 metres outdoors, depending on structural conditions and sources of interference.

ENERGY FROM MOTION – MAINTENANCE-FREE AND SUSTAINABLE

The WICONA window contact generates the energy required for signal transmission itself: the movement when opening the window activates the system, generating a signal that is transmitted wirelessly. This principle eliminates the need for any power supply at the window – a clear advantage in terms of sustainability, service life and environmental friendliness.

SUITABLE FOR ANY INSTALLATION SITUATION

Thanks to its discreet design integrated into the window rebate, the window contact remains invisible from the outside – and is therefore also protected against tampering. Whether for new builds, renovations or retrofitting existing windows, the solution is highly versatile and can be seamlessly combined with WICONA window systems.
