A UNIQUE GREENHOUSE IN THE BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE EMIR OF KUWAIT
A remarkable greenhouse has been created in the Emir of Kuwait’s botanical garden. Covering more than 3,500 m², it hosts plant species from a wide range of climate zones – made possible in no small part by the project-specific Variolux Thermo36 hi roof and façade system. Located within the grounds of the Bayan Palace – the Emir’s main residence – the greenhouse forms part of the 16,000 m² botanical garden. Its striking glass architecture, with three arches reaching heights of up to 12.5 metres, houses not only plant exhibits but also meeting spaces for state guests and visitors of the Emir.
A GREENHOUSE SYSTEM THAT DELIVERS
For the construction of the façade and the curved roof structure or dome of the greenhouse, the specialists from Smiemans Projecten B.V. opted for the highly insulated and thermally broken VARIOLUX Thermo36 hi system. Working in harmony with innovative climate control systems and high-quality installations for regulating temperature and humidity, the building envelope ensures a stable and optimal indoor climate for a wide range of plant species – even in outdoor conditions reaching up to 53° Celsius.
