REFERENCE LETTER
Jaidah Square - Doha, Qatar.
Jaidah Square is a state-of-the-art building situated on Airport Road in Doha, one of the busiest streets in the capital. Its quirky design and prime location make it one of the city's major attractions.

The 70,000 m² tower block comprises seven storeys. The ground floor and the mezzanine are home to various commercial facilities including three spacious showrooms, a modern fitness centre and an award-winning restaurant. Floors 2 to 7 contain office spaces ranging in floor space from 250 to 4000 m². There are also three extensive basement levels offering more than 600 parking spaces.
A bespoke, tested solution
This ultramodern building is one of a kind: its horizontal, sleek design and its inward and outward sloping facades set it apart from the other structures in the Qatari capital.

To meet the specific requirements of the project, Wicona Projects Division proposed and developed an adaptation of its Wictec EL Unitized facade. The challenge was to create three new profiles to produce this facade composed of a plethora of re-entrant and salient angles, defining the unusual appearance of the building.

A key factor in the project feasibility study was a full-size mock up composed of six panels of W 1.5 m and H 4.2 m, which was produced by the customer, Alu Nasa, and underwent tests to ensure watertightness and resistance to wind and air in order to meet ASTM international standards.

Wicona and manufacturer Alu Nasa vindicated the choice made by the project manager, delivering and installing a bespoke system in under 9 months.

"It was wonderful to work with Wicona on this prestigious project. We were really pleased with the finished facade considering the 35 different corner conditions with inward & outward slopes that had to be taken into account. We used the Wictec EL system for all of the upper floors and, for the showroom level facade, we used Alu Nasa's own bespoke design facade. Due to the number of corners and slopes, hundreds of complex geometry corner panels were needed. However, we successfully managed to use the same system for all of the floors without compromising the performance and appearance of the facade. The facade looks flat and provides excellent views from every angle."
