Wicona offers a range of façade solutions for sustainable building, achieving both energy efficiency and climate protection, and ensuring, first and foremost, the most economical use of natural resources possible.
Looking to the future, the sustainability of a building will become an increasingly important factor for building owners, tenants and developers. This is reflected in the growing number of certifications now available to evaluate the sustainability of a building or a product.
Environmental Product Declarations
As a leading international façade brand, Wicona products have the reassurance of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), which cover the entire life cycle of its façade solutions, including environmental impact.
The product declarations (in accordance with international standards ISO 14025 and ISO 21930) can be generated automatically by our customers using our WICTOP software.
Wicona’s aluminium façade products also meet the most demanding international criteria, including:
- DGNB seal of quality (German Sustainable Building Council): - This involves the assessment of sustainability targets, and takes both environmental and economic factors into consideration.
- Minergie standard (Switzerland): - This assesses sustainability against set energy indicators for buildings. The Minergie accreditation for windows, for example, is achieved when a double casement window system achieves the demanding insulation value of Uw=1.0 W/(m²K).
- LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design): - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an independent certification programme. It is a nationally recognised organisation for the design, operation and construction of high performance sustainable buildings. Accreditation ensures that the buildings minimise impact on the environment and provide a healthy working environment.
