A Façade for the Future


TEmotion, the facade of the future: a synthesis of technology and emotion When it comes to sustainability, user comfort has a large role to play. For this reason, buildings must meet the needs of their users and must guarantee a high degree of well-being.

This can be achieved, for example, through the type of design, the colour, the type of lighting or the air quality. If the users feel good in the building, then this will have a positive effect on the working environment – in other words, well-being promotes productivity.

As a universal concept, the group has developed a self-sufficient facade system that integrates all components of the building's technology into the facade. Control is through the central building services management system or by the user him/herself. Photovoltaic cells in the elements are used for generating energy and supplying the building installations with electric current. In addition, the facade controls itself and reports possible maintenance requirements to the control centre.

Decentralised ventilation systems transport incoming and outgoing air to and from the offices over the shortest possible route. Individual ventilation through the opening of windows is always possible.

Heating and cooling
The decentralised heating and cooling unit guarantees high-levels of process security and electronic components conform optimally with each other.

Intelligent steering systems provide the optimum use of daylight. Additional LEDs on the inner profiles of the facade provide atmospheric lighting for an increase in user comfort.

One special feature of TEmotion is the combination of anti-glare daylight steering with direct and indirect artificial lighting through the integration of lights in the facade. By clever arrangement and control of the facade lights, rooms deep inside can be well lit without any additional light sources.

The sunshades work using venetian blinds with metal-coated slats in the transparent area of the facade.

Energy supply
Photovoltaic cells arranged on pivoted slats generate electric current for the building`s energy supply.
