"European Aluminium Award 2010“ for "WICTEC CPC"

The Ritter Energie- und Umwelttechnik GmbH was awarded with the „European Aluminium Award 2010“ for its façade collector “WICTEC CPC”.

The Ritter Energie- und Umwelttechnik GmbH and Wicona jointly developed the façade collector „WICTEC CPC“ that has once more been honoured at the “Aluminium” in Essen, Germany.

After winning the „Intersolar Award 2010“, the innovative aluminium façade concept which includes integrated solar thermal tubes “WICTEC CPC”, has won another spectacular international distinction with the “European Aluminium Award 2010”.

This time, on September the 14th, 2010, the scene of the award was the world leading trade show “Aluminium” in Essen. “An innovative concept that combines expertise in design and functionality” – that is how the prominent Jury was judging the award-winning façade collector with evacuated tubes and semitransparent perforated aluminium CPC-reflectors within the category “Building & Construction”. The technology of evacuated tube collectors which are developed by Ritter combined with the aluminium frames and element façade developed by Wicona is creating a system that can be pre-installed by skilled metal processing companies at the workshop directly and installed on site according to the building design.



The collector collects the sunlight in front of the façade to function as a shield of direct solar radiation of contiguous rooms. Due to the extremely low thermal loss, solar heat with high temperature (60-90°C) can be generated which is then supplied the short way into the building through an integrated pipe system of the façade profiles for hot drinking water and solar heating.

The perforation of the CPC-reflector allows a certain proportion of sunlight into the building – enough for a low-glare lighting of the room, while ensuring a desired visual transparency for the office users. The highly thermal insulated glass façade is also ensuring lower energy consumption during the heating period. The opening casements of the façade enable free ventilation and easy cleaning of the glass surface.

In cooperation with the University of Stuttgart, Hydro Building Systems, Frener & Reifer, the Technical University of Munich and other industry partners of the Ritter Energie- und Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG, the „WICTEC CPC“ is the successful result of a jointly initiated research project.

Since 1998, as a part of the trade fair “Aluminium”, the European Aluminium Award has been awarded and is directed towards engineers, constructors, developer, designer and customers. Selected by an international jury of experts under the supervision of Prof. Laurens Katgerman from the Delft University of Technology, products and projects that are using the material aluminium in an innovative kind of way have been awarded with.
